Ciudad Colon is a small town situated west of Santa Ana in the central valley of Costa Rica. It is a town like none other. If you can pry your eyes away from the surrounding mountains, you’ll find yourself surrounded by life and color.
Each year, Ciudad Colon is host to over 100 graduate students of the University for Peace. Some families even open their homes to students, providing them with a window into the unique Costa Rican life and culture. The park in the center of town is usually ringing with young laughter. Whether playing volleyball, skateboarding, running around on the playground or just hanging out on the steps, the young people of Ciudad Colon love their town.
While University for Peace students know how wonderful this place is, we also know that if you want an honest, insider’s opinion, you should ask the young people who live here.
And that’s exactly what we did.
